Celina Police Department
The Future is Here
The City of Celina has embarked on its most ambitious project to date, which involves the construction of the new Celina Police Department Headquarters. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning 32,660 square feet, will be situated at the intersection of Punk Carter Parkway and Coit Road. The project has enlisted the renowned expertise of Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architects for the design, and Timberlyne, which will feature a 2,882-square-foot courtyard and an additional 5,637-square-foot asset building. Furthermore, Lee Lewis Construction was tasked with bringing this vision to life through the construction of the headquarters.
The new 32,660 square foot Celina Police Facility has been meticulously designed to provide the Celina Police Department with a cutting-edge facility that prioritizes the well-being of its officers and employees. The exterior of the building predominantly features limestone and glass, complemented by steel and exposed wood accents. Inside, the heavy timber columns, glulam beams, and cross-laminated timber decking create a visually striking and durable structure. The use of exposed wood throughout the building not only adds warmth but also fosters a connection to natural light, thanks to the expansive glass windows and a fully glazed interior courtyard. Furthermore, the building's layout allows for future expansion to accommodate the city's growth, ensuring that it remains a functional and adaptable space for years to come.
The building features a large and inviting lobby that provides access to a sizeable room with all the furniture, A/V, and other support systems needed to serve as a community room and for various department training needs. The lobby also provides a location to interact with Police Records staff at a secure reception point.
This point and the other areas leading from the Lobby to the secure side of the building are all constructed with ballistic resistance in mind. This will contribute to the staff's well-being and security when in their new facility. On the secure side of the building, spaces are provided for Police Administration, Investigations, Patrol, and Records. There is already space allocated in the new facility for a new dispatch center once the city reaches the size that this is needed. In addition to the internal departments, there are the required support areas for staff, including a unified break room with access to the interior courtyard. Locker rooms with specialized lockers for law enforcement officers are located within a building section designed to withstand an EF-5 tornado.
In addition to the main building, there is an adjacent 5,600-square-foot asset support building. This building shares the same exterior finishes as the main building but is a more typical load-bearing masonry and steel bar joist construction due to the nature of the spaces included. This building provides space for Property and Evidence, including areas for the officers to drop evidence and for the public to retrieve property. There is also a dedicated area for evidence analysis. The building also provides space for an exercise area that can be opened to an outdoor area for use as a cross-fit training area. This is provided further to address the concerns with officer and staff wellness. The combination of these two structures is intended to support the Celina Police as they continue to deliver outstanding policing services to the City of Celina.
